I read the blog called “Daily Kos” and really enjoyed it. It’s a political blog about upcoming events happening within our government. It let’s everyone know who stumbles upon the reading, the issues going on in today’s world. On this blog site, you can click on the About link to get a feel for who the author or creator is and why they created the site. The creator of this blog is named Markos Militias ZĂșniga and he created the site in 2002.

In this blog, Markos, or Kos for short, makes references to other sites based on his political entries. He further uses videos from YouTube a lot to show what he’s talking about in his text. His take has a certain stand point on where he’s at with his political views. He continuously uses examples of Bush and his tactics that he has made in the past few years dealing with this war. I think Kos is targeting anyone who loves politics as an audience or those who see his viewpoint. I feel he’s communicated his ideas clearly and he’s also being fair and letting you know the other sides of the situation. This blog’s purpose is to seek out people who enjoy politics or have strong feelings about it, and inform them of what’s going on.

The blog that was made by Michelle Malkin is a web blog that is generated around government happenings. Malkin gives updates on events that is happening in the government system. She uses many links in her writing to help people understand what she is talking about; most of the time the links are to articles that are related to the topic of her writing. Malkin sometimes uses harsh words when referring to the government, by the way she writes it makes me think that she is against Bush and is probably a Democrat. Malkin also uses a lot of pictures/ cartoon to help us analyze the text, the pictures help us imagine what she is saying. Most of the readers are people who enjoy discussing government topics and will give their opinion of what they think about Malkin’s topic and opinion. When reading this blog is made me bored and not interested because I do not find government issues that interesting.

The blog “Informed Comment” is a blog that people who are interested in war and politics would read often. The website has many different entries into detail about the war in iraq and other things that pertain to that subject like oil as in the latest entry is about. I don’t think the entries really give his opinions but they are just facts that are current with what is going on in general. He has many other people who have a lot of education and knowledge such as doctors giving their opinions. This I this is done to make his post seem really informational and useful to others who read this will believe the information. The entries are very informational considering they are kind of lengthy to other blog entries I have seen. The links that are in the entries are from articles that he talks about or refers to about the war or the other topics. Many of the blog network members that are on the side of the page have names that use words like politics, democrats, and other names that show the blog is about politics and the world today. The line underneath the title is a big clue on what the entries pertain to; it reads “Thoughts on the Middle East, History and Religion”.

When looking at this post my first impression is that it is a serous site, one that many take to heart and care about. It is all white with some orange font that makes it pop out against the white background. There is also text in blue boxes that directs the audiences eyes toward it making it seem like it’s very important. This blog seems to direct its post toward people who care about politics and what’s going on in the world around them. When looking through the page as a whole you can see how many comments are left on different posts and you get the feeling that the audience who visit this site care and can relate to the topics discussed. It seems like the purpose of the blog is that it is trying to inform people of different topics about politics in general, some big and some small.

My rhetorical analysis will be on the blog, Informed Comment. Juan Cole, the author of this blog, addresses topics into his blog such as: The Middle East, History, and Religion. You see that on the top underneath his blog account title. His most recent posts are mostly on the war in Iraq or anything that concerns Iraq. He also has a few posts about Bush. Juan even wrote a post on Islamic history in Iraq, which is very interesting by the way. The audience I believe he is trying to reach is individuals who have an interest in current events in Iraq and politics. I also feel he is also trying to draw in individuals who like to read about history and religion. Juan does a great job at giving a lot of information and properly citing work that isn’t his own. His purpose of this blog is to inform everyone on current events and really interesting information. A substance of his standard post usually contains a lot of information from other sources. He adds links to the information he’s placed in his blog that he got from other sources. He links to mainly articles of which the information he looked up on. If you are a political person, this blog is just the place for you to check out.

I read the Informed Comment blog and his blog was about politics. He spoke about all the different governments around the world and he linked to posts from news websites so that the audience can really understand what he is talking about. Most of what he writes about are facts, but he also gives his opinion on topics to show how he feels about it. Like for the posts about Bush, he talks about how he was complaining, but he didn’t know the half of it. He addresses topics that people wouldn’t normally blog about. The audience he is trying to address would be “adult” politically correct people. He wants his audience to have a good view on how the government really works, and to really understand that politics isn’t for everyone.

Looking at Juan Cole blog, “Informed Comment”, he tends to attract a more serious, political, crowd of readers. He takes stand on politics of the War in Iraq, showing people the real news on what kind of situation is presently happening over seas. He brings to us a very detailed blog on specifics of the war, specifics that is not shown on television. He provides links to all of his information posted, along with the links, he offers a short run down on what the links subject is about. Looking at some of the posts, it is unclear what his stands are about the war, but it is clear that he wants to let people know our status in the Middle East. Overall his posts are not all on Iraq, they also deal with our politics here. He wants to attract subjects for debate on how the government works today. He posts multiple subjects, ranging from Iraq, our president, government, and foreign policies. He posts this information to show, and make people realize our world we live in today. These topics are controversial and are not talked about often, so he feels that we need to discuss these topic because they affect us directly in some way, shape, or form.

Boing boing is a very interesting blogg. The posts on this site vary from all different topics. If I had to pick a typical audience for this site, it would have to be scientists and nerdy people. The kinds of topics in the site are about inventions and comic books. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear inventions is scientist and the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear comic books is nerds. I think most people would agree with me on my assumption on those. The images on the page really set the audience, showing pictures of inventions and showing comic book cover pages. The authors of this site really did a good job on catching the audience’s attention. The diction by all the authors is very strong, you can tell smart scientists and nerds would read this page like they were reading a children’s book. The one thing that threw me off on this page is the tattoo blogg. I really enjoy tattoos and I am not a nerd or a scientists so im not really sure why that is on here. I don’t know any scientists or nerds with any tattoos or body art.

This site is about what the Politicians in Washington D.C are doing on in general. I know that there not doing a good job because if they were people wouldn’t be fighting for their lives. When talking about congress the best way to describe it is in kayos. Congress isn’t the only people getting harassed it all types of government. This website attracts people who give a damn about what’s happening in this country, for those who are in to watching the news and things like that. This blog is opening people up to what bills are getting passed and what politicians are doing that we don’t pay attention to. Then the writer is ripping the system and seams like he’s trying to get people on his side. The site also is talking about the up coming election. Say who could be a good person to run the country.

In the blog Informed Comment, Juan Cole is talking about the Middle East. His most recent blog on May 18th is about oil. He has an interview in the first paragraph talking about how the prime minister is doing something with the oil. He states that Iraq only exports 1.6 million barrels a day. He links to many other articles dealing with Iraq, and most of the links are dealing with deaths. One of the links is talking about a position paper that has been written.
To me this blog is for people who are following the war. It didn’t appeal to me because I’m not up to date with the news in Iraq. The structure of the paper is serious he wants to get peoples attention out about what is going on with oil.

The website Dailykos.com is very informative about issues regarding politics. The sight tells about current events in the White House, and having to do with the war in Iraq. It seems to be a little biased toward Democrats. This website appears to be informing Americans and Congress, and the political leaders in charge, and mainly targets Democrats and those who do not support Bush or his actions. The authors on this website tend to not be in favor for Bush at all. They think that all Republicans in office right now are “reckless” and “destructive”. The posts have video clips from Youtube.com for people to view about the specific topics. Dailykos.com is constructed to basically inform people about the events happening in the United States and the war. This website is not exactly fair for both parties, since it’s main focus is only toward one party being the “bad guy”. It does give a little background information about issues but again it may not be fair since it may be telling only one side of the story, and creating a specific image toward Republicans. This is a great website to visit for people with certain beliefs, and thoughts regarding the war and our President.

When looking at Michelle Malkin’s blog the first thing that jumps out at me is how plain it is. It’s a very simple layout with a white background and a boarder of ads on the left and top. It doesn’t have fancy writing or colors. It’s a blog that wants you to be there for the reading and not for the style. She talks a lot about politics but mainly about what the government is doing wrong. She does at times come out and say what she thinks about it, although it is mostly implied when she is writing. She has a lot of details to back up her discussions about topics. She links often to other sites or old post of hers, and she brings in other news posts to quote. She has a couple of videos that explain why she upset with what happened. It seems as if she writes about things that are going wrong and nothing that is going right. I feel that this blog is for readers who have the same feelings she does. She wants to get the news out to people, but really it’s only the news she wants people to hear and how she wants them to hear it.

I’m writing about the Michelle Malkins blog. She writes about immigration, and how illegal immigrants will be deported if they do not meet certain requirements. She writes about how immigrants have to file for a z visas and pass certain test, and pay a whole lot of money in order to get a green card. I believe that she is writing it for everyone, so they can see what is going on. I think that she is also trying to say that, not matter what; immigrants will always find a way to get to America. Michelle uses text and a couple of links on her blog. She also uses nice pictures as well. I like her blog because my parents are Haitian and they tell me all the time about people they know that had just got deported back to Haiti. I think it is messed up, but there is nothing we can do about it.

In the blog, Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful things, David Pescovitz posts an upcoming event. He puts in to detail the people and creations that are going to be present. David links his blog to Maker Faire, and Scott Beale’s sneak peek at laughing squid. The type of people that would be interested in that blog would be people, who are fascinated by science and different types of inventions. He also puts the link SS Alpha Fox in his blog, which leads to a photo gallery when you click on it. Most of the links that he has on his blog leads to another blog and then to another.
